"The Duchess," as many call Jureesa, is from Port Gibson-Pattison, Mississippi, where she grew up listening to Blues, R&B, Gospel, and Soul Music. She was captivated by the sounds of B. B. King, Koko Taylor, Big Mama Thornton, and many more.
This album was a most welcome surprise and greatly appreciated. The songs are outstanding, the musicians are first-rate, and that voice ... deeply soulful, intense vocal deliveries, Jureesas’ impassioned delivery on 10 potent tracks.
The entire project drips with enormous heart and unleashed passion. "The Duchess" is most certainly blues royalty . "My Time To Shine" is the perfect showcase for a talent on a meteoric rise to stardom. This is a first class collection of Soul, Delta, and Chicago Blues given a dizzying spin by an impressive talent. Jureesa may be only a "Duchess" now but the throne is only a release or two from her grasp. A great musical effort that deserves an enormous spotlight from fans and critics alike, a standout among so many releases out there, rock solid entertainment from start to finish.
