Vin Mott – Blues Omerta

Vin Mott is a Jersey transplant/Texas blues harpmaster who is building a reputation for his loyalty to the authentic traditional sounds of the Chicago, Memphis, and Delta style blues. Blues Omerta is his latest release.

Mott has embraced his surroundings with a gritty Delta country blues album. The only thing left from his Jersey Roots are the title and the album cover artwork.

This set includes three instrumentals. “Doctor's Orders,” “Dance of the Wolf Spider,” and “Jalopy Stomp” which is a boogieing whammer jammer! The seemingly autobiographical “Whiskey Winds” is perhaps Mott's own story of his journey to Texas.

Another highlight here is “I Got to Get Myself to Austin.” Once again Mott reveals his love for his new digs. “Ain't got nothing,” and “Born to Be a Loser” are a couple of great blues tunes highlighting his embracement of the Southern style blues. This is a stellar effort with Mott shining on harp vocals guitar drums and percussion. On Blues Omerta, a multi-talented individual has released a Southern-style blues album with true grit.
