About the event
NJBS Showcase Series presents Tony O with B-Ro & Friends opening.
Born & raised in New York City, he was greatly inspired by the King of Blues, BB King and was given the name “Tony O” by his mentors and good friends, Howlin Wolf and Hubert Sumlin. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues album with Pinetop Perkins on Telarc Records, which included Tony O’s original song, “Blues O’ Blues”. Tony O, formerly of The Legendary Blues Band aka Post Muddy Waters Band, has toured and recorded with LBB, Jimmy Rogers, Hubert Sumlin, James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins, and many other Blues legends.
B-Ro started out copping Hendrix and Clapton licks. After winning a pair of tickets to see Muddy Waters in 1982 he became immersed in Blues. While attending the University of Wisconsin, Madison, he was brought on as a member of the house band of the legendary and long-running “Tate’s Blues Jam.” Now B has taken a new turn; choosing to focus on studying jazz guitar and vocals in an endless quest to round out, break new ground and challenge himself, band members and audiences to experience something a little different.
